We decided to try out this campground due to a music and beer tasting event that was being held at the brewery.

Campground was clean as I think the campers themselves clean up after themselves very well, There is one bath house with only 2 showers that serves the whole campground and it is a bit of a walk. There is a Camp Host but our fire pit had not been cleaned. Our neighbor’s fire pit was so close to our RV. There’s no privacy, you are right next to each other. We did turn our RVs to face each other, which was nice because it gave us more space. Good thing our best friends were in the site next to us because we shared the same electric/water pedestal and their sewer connection was right in our front picnic area. Enjoyed our sight after the sun went behind the trees about 5:30. We camped here in August and it was very hot. The tent sites are very well shaded, and there seems to be good shade in the primitive RV camping areas. Not much shade in the Summer, but I bet it’s beautiful here in the Fall. For $55 night it’s just parking in a field. However, the campground was a bit of a disappointment.

The area is absolutely beautiful and lots of breweries and wineries in the area, plus some unique stores to browse through. Beautiful brewery, enjoyed a good dinner first night here at The Summit.

I would definitely stay here again, although at full price I might not be as enthusiastic.īreaking camp this morning after spending 5 nights at Devils Backbone Basecamp.

The address to use for the campground is 30 Three Ridges Ln, Roseland, VA 22967. The campground is around the cornerstone it. The address they send you takes you to the brewery. There aren’t many amenities, but the vibe and area more than make up for it. You can walk to the brewery on site, and to a cidery that is across the road. You share a utility post with your neighbor and the odd numbered sites have the post in the grassy area that winds up being your site. The even numbered sites are the best to get. Several rigs, including mine, needed leveling blocks, but nothing too drastic. The campground it’s self is a large open field with hook up and some beautiful scenery. There is a ton of amazing hiking and all sorts of tastings to be had (beer, cider, wine, and spirits). The area is beautiful and perfectly situated for lots of outdoor activities. It was amazing having everything (ceremony, reception, and food & drink) handled through just one on-site vendor it made the entire planning process so stress-free and simple-and it kept costs down.I got a killer deal on the rate because of the COVID restrictions. We had plenty of space to mingle, and we even got to play cornhole on the deck outside.Ĭat & Melanie were great to work with-responsive and accommodating. The Summit is a pretty enough space that you don't need to do too much in the way of decor, either. The food we chose was all delicious (you're allowed to have your chosen dessert made at an outside bakery, but otherwise you are eating Devils Backbone food), and they'll work with you to make sure the menu is just how you want it. We just wanted a simple reception with a buffet dinner & mingling, so the Summit was perfect for that. We chose to have a standing ceremony, but you are able to rent chairs if so desired. It is isolated from the main Devils Backbone campus, so it is private & quiet, and it has a beautiful backdrop of the mountains behind. There is a wooden arbor provided in the outdoor area in the back yard of one of the on-site houses, which are lovely and we rented (Three Ridges Haven & Retreat). However, if you have more people than that at your wedding, you are able to rent a tent to cover the outside area around the Summit to accommodate them. Devils Backbone was the absolute perfect place to host our intimate wedding this March! We had approximately 35-40 guests, which was the perfect amount of people for the outdoor ceremony venue and the Summit reception area.
